This past week has been seen our MYP students engaged in the International Schools Assessment (ISA) tests and our Grade 10 students in the MYP Mock eAssessment exams. The ISA assessment will give us more insight into our literacy programmes and provide a valuable snapshot of data for reflection and the MYP Mock eAssessment provides our teachers and students with a deeper understanding of the expectations for the final exams in May, and any opportunities for growth. All of the students conducted themselves well, and each session started with '3 breaths' of Mindfulness. We recognise that assessments can be an anxious time for students and hence, we have introduced mindfulness at the start and end of assessments to support students and help them to relax and be better prepared.
Our student learning often goes outside of the classroom, and this past week we had our DP French students experiencing 'French cuisine' with Mrs. Clark-Guillotel, and our Grade 9 English Learners exploring nature in our neighbouring garden Hort Park. For many of them this was their first time to experience our green city. As Kaho quoted 'Singapore is an urban city so I thought there is not much green area, but I now know Singapore has nature too." It was a wonderful outing for our students and thanks to Ms Teresa and Mr Whitehead for organising this Grade 9 trip.
This coming week we have our IB DP Art Exhibition - it officially opens to the public on Wednesday evening at 5pm, and this will coincide with our Grade 9 -11 Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC). The PTC is a wonderful opportunity to meet your son/daughter/wards teachers and to gain a greater understanding of their learning and their focus for the coming months. I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday. If you are unsure how to sign up for the PTC, please contact my office. [email protected]
