Time has flown by and we have once again nearly reached the end of the 1st Semester of this academic year. The semester has been packed with many learning opportunities and just plain fun too. Students have excelled in so many different ways.
As this will be the final blog before the December break I would like to wish all of you very happy holidays and a very Merry Christmas to those of the community who will be celebrating Christmas. I hope you all have had a great 2017 and that 2018 will be even more exciting and enjoyable.
Festival of Lights
Once again our annual Festival of Lights concert was absolutely fantastic, and we were provided with a wonderful ensemble of music by the Grade 9 students through to the graduating students in Grade 12. Mr. Hoddinott certainly encouraged and allowed every musician to reach their potential and be true risk-takers. We were very lucky with the weather and performances were able to be conducted outside, under the stars.
Japanese University Fair
On Sunday, December 10th at our ISS Paterson Campus is a Japanese University Fair. This fair is jointly sponsored by ISS, the Ministry of Education in Japan (MEXT) and the Global Education Foundation, Japan. The universities represented offer programmes taught in English and also programmes taught in Japanese. Programmes are of a high quality and are very affordable. The Fair is open from 10am-5:15pm.
PTA Message
The ISS PTA are proud to introduce the “Giving Tree” It lets you help the less fortunate by pledging a donation to decorate it.
As easy as 1…2…3!

2. Remove a tag and place money in an envelope for the charity of your choice.
3. Place the donation with the tag in the box and hang a decoration on the tree of your house colour.
Message from our Counsellors
The ISS Counsellors, Berna Sekhon and Beth Contreras are hosting a few opportunities for middle & high school parents, guardians and the counsellors to meet about different topics that our children are facing. We are calling these times "Conversations with the Counsellors". They will be partly structured with questions and information, and partly a time to talk with one another about what is happening and how we can support our teens and each another through these challenging years.
Please use the below survey to let us know which meeting times would work best for you and if you have other topics you would like to talk about this year besides those listed.
