We had 77 students placed in 33 different locations across the Island this year for our Grade 10 World Of Work for three days this past week. The students returned on Thursday to share their experiences and key learning points. They all felt it was a meaningful experience and that it gave them a good insight to the importance of completing an internship in Grade 11. They agreed that they were frequently out of their comfort zone, had to take initiative to ask questions, and just 'get on with the job'. The students and organisations would all like World Of Work to be for 5 days, which we will review for next year. Congratulations to all of our Grade 10 students for being risk-takers, communicators and principled during your World Of Work. Our Grade 10 have now completed their Middle Years programme and are enrolled into our Diploma programme for the last 2 weeks of their schooling as they start to prepare for the next stage of their ISS educational journey.
Our graduation class celebrated the end of school with a lovely prom at The British Club. It was a wonderful evening and all of the students looked absolutely splendid. It was super so many teachers were able to join the celebration and bid farewell to our class of 2018.
Security Changes at Preston Campus
Please be informed that from Monday, 28 May 2018, the gates at the lower car park at Preston campus will be closed for one hour between 11 am and 12 noon. This is to allow our security officer to go for his lunch. Please use the main gate at the upper car park to access the campus during this timing.
Strategic Plan at ISS
This week Paterson Campus hosted the ISS Strategic Planning meeting. At this meeting, the continued direction of the school is re-affirmed and aligned with our foundational statements. The current plan is in the second year of its three year cycle. The collective work and input of all areas of the ISS community help to provide a clear learning pathway for all students, parents, teachers and the wider community of stakeholders. The Strategic Plan is the bedrock that keeps the school steady and it is built upon student voice, parent input and the vast experience of the teaching and administration staff. Well done to all involved and especially to Sam, Risa and June from Grade 11 who participated in the morning and willingly shared their thoughts with the group.
Next week is Vesak Day (Tuesday 29 May) This public holiday, in Singapore, marks the birth of Gautama Buddha. He was the father of Buddhism, who is responsible for Buddhism's core teachings.
Upcoming Events
Tuesday 29 May - Vesak Day - School closed
Wednesday 6th June - #ISSG9MUN - Our grade 9 involved in a day of Model United Nations.
Thursday 7th June - School closes at 12noon for students. (Semester Reports available on MB)
