Our MYP swim gala was a great success, although we had to stop for one hour due to thunder and lightening, we did manage to complete the gala. Our captains were well organised and encouraged their teams to get involved, and with a wonderful competitive atmosphere, much enthusiasm and cheering we once again celebrated Somerset as the eventual winners. Our Grade 11 and 12 students were in school, in the dry, working on their Core IB components; ToK, CAS, EE and subject IA's. We also hosted a Canadian University Fair with nine universities represented for our students and parents to speck with. It was a productive day and students and teachers alike said it was not just a purposeful day, but also very successful.
International Day
This Friday 6th October, we have our International Day that is held at our Paterson campus. The event has always been a wonderful celebration of our diversity and the coming together of our school. The International Day website that has information of the day and can be accessed here: sites.google.com/iss.edu.sg/international-day-2016-17/home
Reports
This Friday the first reports of the academic year will be available. The Mid semester one report will be available via ManageBac. This report contains a comment from each student’s Kampong teacher and an assessment of the Approaches To Learning (ATL) for each subject, along with a grade if your child is in the DP/DC programme. The Kampong comment will review the student's start to the school year. These reports can be further discussed at Parent Teacher Conferences, that happen on Wednesday 1st and 8th November. A link will be sent out for sign-ups.
InterQuest - Grade 10
On Wednesday 4th October we have many of our Grade 10 students taking advantage of the InterQuest Step One Career assessment. InterQuest measures students’ abilities and aptitudes such as verbal, spatial, numerical and abstract reasoning, their occupational ideas and academic potential. The 16 page report that each student will receive afterwards will show their personal strengths and educational options. The charges for the test are: $160 for InterQuest Educational and Career Guidance Assessment. A registration form is attached below. We have found this to be a rewarding and successful assessment for all students and encourage everyone to participate.
