We had a fantastic representative of delegates at the Model United Nations (MUN) hosted at Overseas Family School (OFSMUN X) last weekend. MUN is an educational simulation and/or academic activity in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. It involves debating, particularly in a political context, with students who are from different schools. It attempts to replicate a real United Nations conference, and allows participating students to develop awareness of current issues. Our students were involved in an afternoon of Youth Leadership workshops followed by a two day conference. Topics such as Peace and Security, Human Rights and Environment to name just a few were debated and resolutions put forward with supporting arguments and evidence. MUN provides our students with opportunities to embrace the IB Learner profile as communicators, thinkers and inquirers.
This past week we have been focussing on celebrations and being grateful for all that we have achieved. Our Grade 12's recognised each others accomplishments during their Pastoral Care lesson, and we celebrated the wonderful WWW service learning and activities at our monthly assembly. The Student Council also hosted a wonderful after school BBQ for teachers to show appreciation for everything they do.
This coming week, we have the Step One consultant meeting our Grade 10 students to review the Careers Assessment results and explain the report. The consultant is also available for one to one meetings with parents and students. Please contact Mala, our University Advisor on [email protected] if you are interested in meeting the consultant (there is a separate fee for this service). The careers assessment is just one of many on-going activities we complete in preparing our students for the diploma programme.
The IN Art Exhibition opens on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm at the Australian High Commission. All of our IB DP Visual Art graduates have work on display. The Exhibition will be on view for the next month.
