On Thursday we were treated to two outstanding performances by the Kirakira Hikaru Arts dance group. The high energy performances were enjoyed by students and parents. A special feature of the performance was that the ISS performances and others included in the dance troupe's tour were all part of one of our Grade 12 student's CAS project. Moe, who organised the troupe's tour, performed with the dancers and trained fellow students, Keita, Mayuko and Yuna to join in with the dance team, started planning this event around a year ago.
On Friday our Grade 10 students spent the day in a range of workshops to support the Personal Project process that they have all started. Students reviewed ATL skills, unpacked the assessment criteria and presented their chosen topic and global context to a small group of their peers and teachers. The Personal Project is a mandatory element of the MYP in Grade 10 and the grade awarded contributes towards their final MYP Certificate. If you wish to learn more about the Personal Project then please contact Mr Hoddinott on [email protected].
Last Tuesday over 50 parents came to our 'Meet the Teachers' evening and they were provided with details about the expectations and opportunities their student at the High School can expect for the coming year. It was lovely to meet so many new parents and all our returning parents too. I spoke about our new Wellness Wednesday initiative that provides 40 minutes each week for students to focus on an independent topic of choice to study. I also reminded parents about the requirement to have an ISS identify badge that must be worn when visiting our campuses. Please contact the High School office if you do not have a security badge yet.
