We have had a packed week with many activities and events taking place that provide our students with wonderful opportunities to excel and to be part of the wider community.
We welcomed the Grade 8 students on Tuesday for the day. The students took part in lessons, they explored the campus and got to know some of our students, teachers and support staff. It was a busy, but fun day and we look forward to seeing them all in August.
We had our Junior Public Speaking Competition for the Grade 9 and 10 English students on Wednesday, this is an annual event and it was a honour to be on the judging panel and listen to our students stand and talk on a topic they are passionate about. All participants were outstanding and it was a challenge for the judges to choose a winner. Congratulations to
Grade 9 speakers: Emelia, Sayma, Christian and Daria. Grade 10 speakers: Rishi and Mason. The winners: Grade 9 - Alex, and Grade 10 - Vera and Grace.
Our Ultimate Frisbee mixed gender team came in 3rd at the finals on Thursday. It was a long night as play was delayed due to the rain. Many of our students supported the team and special recognition was expressed for Jake Bell. Wes Whitehead was at the game, and quoted 'The spokesperson from SAS also publicly expressed appreciation to Jake Bell for his efforts to serve as the Ultimate coordinator and mentioned that his shoes would be difficult to fill since this was his last year.'
The IB DP exams started on Friday and I met with the Grade 12 students and reminded them to 'breathe, think positive and to do their best'. We wish them all the very best in the next 3 weeks. A reminder that Graduation will be held on Friday 19th May, and invitation cards will be issued to Grade 12 students.
Finally, it was a pleasure to be part of the Parent Focus Group on Thursday evening. My weekly blog was commended (Thank you) and I would like to clarify that the Paterson Blog can be accessed by clicking on the link in the right panel on this page. I look forward to continuing to support parents and I am happy to answer any questions.
Grade 9 and Grade 10 High School students who sat the ISA's received their results this week and the reports are available on ManageBac. We posted two newsletters from Fang Shelly this week on ManageBac to Grade 9 and Grade 10 parents, if you are not receiving our newsletters please contact the HS office; [email protected]
